Outline of a Duet Day

A Duet Day gives an opportunity to explore some of the wide and exciting piano duet repertoire in an informal setting, possibly someone’s house, and is a ‘taster’ of our longer courses. We tutor any pieces that participants would like to bring and the day also provides a chance to observe, chat and exchange ideas with others – a mini course! A range of standards is no problem; we take each duo on its own ability - no comparisons or set level - and there are duets for mixed abilities. If the room is big enough for a second acoustic or digital piano when everyone is in the room, then we could also try some 2-piano music!

The cost would be around £50 per person with coffee/tea/cold drinks provided by the host, but those coming are asked to bring a dish each for a Pot Luck Lunch. The timetable is based on 4 - 5 duos with session times as:

  • Approx. 10.30 for 11.00 start with masterclasses until approx. 1.30

LUNCH

  • Afternoon session 2.30 - 5.00 approx.

TEA

  • Short extra session if appropriate or we play until 6.00 or so

The idea is that each duo has two 20-30 minute sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The above is an outline suggestion; times can be adjusted to suit individual situations, particularly if there are more than 5 duos.

If you are interested in holding a duet day, we look forward to hearing from you.
